How to open a super account for students

It’s easy to join

If you need to make a superannuation account, you can do it online. It takes less than 5 minutes.
You can join Student Super before you start a job. This helps you to be prepared for your first day of work.
You can read the PDS and Reference Guide and TMD before joining to check if Student Super is right for you.

What’s next

After you’ve finished joining Student Super, there are a few things you can do to start getting your super organised:
  • 1
    Tell your employer
After you join, you will be emailed a pre-filled super choice form and letter of compliance. Give this to your employer so they know where to pay your super money.
You can always find a copy of this pre-filled form when you login under ‘Tell my employer’.

Combine old and lost super into Student Super
You might have old super accounts with other funds or lost super held at the ato. Use the ’Find or combine my super’ feature to do a super search for old and lost super. Then, you can choose to combine them into Student Super.
Transferring your full balance into Student Super means your existing super account will be closed and you will lose any benefits (like insurance) that are linked to your account.
